Joe Rodon is reportedly going to join French side Rennes on a season-long loan deal ahead of the new campaign. Now, he already arrived in France, according to French daily Le Parisien.

Antonio Conte has mentioned the main factor for his loan move to Rennes is that the Wales star desires to get game time ahead of the winter World Cup 2022 in Qatar. Rodon has been struggling for game time at Tottenham since he made the move to the club from Swansea City, but he finds it difficult as he only made three Premier League appearances for the whole season.

For the desire to get World Cup game time, Rodon chose to complete the move to Rennes instead of playing the friendly game against Roma with his Spurs teammates at Israel. Conte opened up on the 24-year-old and his switch to Ligue 1 before the game on Saturday evening.

He said, “Yeah Joe Rodon is another good player and don’t forget that in November there is the World Cup and many players want to play and play regularly. Also, to prepare themselves for this important competition.”

Rodon will join a club that ranked 4th in Ligue 1 last term. For the coming weekend, Rennes start their new league campaign when they play host to Lorient. And in January, Rodon could be facing the task of stopping Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in a game against Paris Saint-Germain.
