Harry Kane led Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday, with his 200th and 201st league goals extending Spurs’ unbeaten start to the campaign. It’s their best grades in 13 years.

Antonio Conte didn’t make any changes to his side that defeated Wolves last week, although Lucas Moura was missing from the bench. With Cuti Romero and Oliver Skipp still missing, it’s been clear this is the eleven that Conte prefers so far.

Kane gave his side the lead early as he found the bottom left corner from just outside the box after only 5 minutes.

In the second half, Henderson saved Kane’s second-half penalty through a handball from defender Steve Cook. But the England captain popped up again late to steer in Richarlison’s fine cross to move level with Andy Cole as the joint-third highest goalscorer in Premier League history and take Spurs up to second.

Steve Cooper threw on most of his summer signings in search of an equalizer, with Emmanuel Dennis going close in the 79th minute after jinking inside and firing towards goal.

However, the visitors killed the game in nine minutes. Substitute Ryan Sessegnon had initially made a mess of a two-on-one situation, but Richarlison showed impressive endeavor to retrieve the ball on the touchline. The Brazilian picked out Kane at the back post who, unmarked, had the simplest of headed finishes at the back post to make amends for his earlier penalty miss.

Although Tottenham won the game, Difference-maker Kane felt that his side were not at their best on the day.

“We didn’t play our best, we know that. We dug in, and I think there’s been a few games like that this season. We got the three points, but for sure we know we can do better,” Kane said.

Manager Antonio Conte said he was satisfied with the result, but also thought his team could do better.

“Our start was good. It’s important in the Premier League to try to get three points in every game. We have to continue in this way, it’s not easy, another clean sheet, and we scored two goals,” Conte said.

Tottenham will compete against West Ham on Wednesday evening as they hope to play better.
