Tottenham Spurs rejected Brighton’s interest in Sergio Reguilon

Tottenham rejected Brighton approach for Sergio Reguilon, according to reports.

Brighton planned to sell Cucurella, so they need another left back. Manchester City and Chelsea had been linked to his move. At an earlier time, Man City had rejected Brighton’s £50m transfer fee demands.

Now Chelsea is ‘close to sign’ Cucurella. It’s reported the deal depends on whether Brighton can find a replacement for the 24-year-old. And this prompted the Seagulls turn to Tottenham for a possible deal.

However, Brighton failed to sign Reguilon. It’s not clear exactly why Spurs would reject an approach, likely because ”Brighton didn’t offer enough money”, or Reguilon didn’t want it to happen.

Reguilon seems set to leave Tottenham before the end of the transfer window. He was not involved in the club’s pre-season tour to South Korea. And It’s reported that Tottenham desired to get rid of him, especially after bringing in Ivan Perisic.

The situation is not beneficial to Reguilon now. He has to find a new destination before the closure of the transfer window. If he can’t, he may have to make his way back to the fold. Another avenue looks to have been closed now with failing to move to Brighton.
