Tottenham on verge of signing Blackburn starlet Ashley Phillips

Tottenham are reportedly close to sign Blackburn Rovers’ highly promising 17-year-old CB Ashley Phillips this summer.

The 17-year-old joined Blackburn Rovers in 2021. He played about 900 minutes for Blackburn’s reserves in the PL2 last season, scoring two goals. And Phillips has made two appearances for Rovers this season, in the Championship and Carabao Cup. Phillips is an England under-17 international, winning five caps. Looks good! Obviously, Phillips is on Spurs’ radar for some time. And Paratici is reportedly going to travel to Reading to watch Phillips play there today before possibly giving his blessing for the club to sign him.

Phillips has less than one year left on his current contract, so Blackburn are expected to cash-in on him before the transfer window closes next month. Manchester United and Chelsea have also showed an interest in the defender, but no clear offer has been made.

Tottenham Hotspur has a crazy summer in their transfer window. Besides the early signing of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison, the north London side have already completed moves for Djed Spence from Championship side Middlesbrough and a loan move for Barcelona’s out of favor center-back Clement Lenglet.

And earlier this week they finalized a five-year deal with a £15million fee for Destiny Udogie.

Udogie’s arrival takes Spurs’ total transfer spend this summer to more than £107m, as Antonio Conte plan to rebuild his squad with these new seven signings.

Meanwhile, Spurs have been busy reinforcing their defense this summer, and a move for Phillips would bring their defensive total to four.
